French Country Kitchen Design
Style
French Country Kitchen Design - When you think of a French
country kitchen you think of strong, rustic furnishings, bold, vibrant colours and sunlight streaming in at
open windows all around the room.
Choose colours like poppy red, bright blue, bold green, sunflower yellow and deep purples
and plums as accent colours used against a backdrop of white, ivory beige or taupe on your walls, cabinets and
furniture.
Not quite enough windows to get that sunny effect? Paint your cabinets a glossy white to
reflect light into the room or ensure your kitchen lighting plan accounts for any darker areas of the
kitchen.
Consider natural materials or natural styles for your kitchen worktops and kitchen
flooring. Hardwood effect worktops or natural marble, natural stone or tile floors work well with this kitchen
design style. Think bold, open beams in the ceiling, either left natural or painted in vibrant colours. An even
more rustic flooring material would be stone or bricks covered with wool or cotton rugs. Quick step flooring has an
excellent range of styles that will work really well in a country kitchen design.
Accent your French country kitchen with tile, hand-painted ceramics and urns, and lots of
pottery. And for that added authenticity go the whole nine yards and don't forget copper pots and pans
too.
Now all you need is some croissants coming fresh from the oven adding to the illusion,
some fresh butter and homemade jam and a French cookbook on the table to add the finishing
touches.
